Introduction
With the aim of promoting pleasure for reading, and developing oral expression and critical thinking skills, was proposed Tandem Reading, of the short story “Donkey with a League and a Half Tail".After carrying out the activities, the students should be able to compete in a nationwide competition.

Process
Before the lesson: • During distance learning, the teacher divided the class into pairs and proposed to the students to read the short story "Donkey with a league and a half tail" by the writer Aquilino Ribeiro. • The students watched a video about the story. • The students read the story at home and filled in the reading guide provided by the teacher. In class: • During the following lessons the reading guides were corrected: students shared their answers with their classmates and the teacher corrected incorrect answers. • In the next lesson the students answered a questionnaire on google forms to assess reading comprehension for a nationwide competition.
